This Thursday, Miami honors the 160th Juneteenth Independence Day with a series of powerful performances and celebrations organized by the city’s leading cultural institutions—perfect additions to any weekend plans or event roundups.
The City of Miami Beach and the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District have organized a dance performance by Miami’z Finest and a showcase from Florida Memorial University's The ROAR Drumline at 5:30 pm at Euclid Oval. The evening celebrates the rich, spiritual, and secular diversity found in the traditional expressions of dance and music from Africa to the New World. Join performers' procession down Lincoln Road, culminating in a stunning performance of Journey of Divine Souls, by the Peter London Global Dance Company.
Later that evening, Hued Songs will host its 2025 Juneteenth Experience at Colony Theatre at 7:30 pm. The program stands as a celebration and a testimony — a deliberate exploration of Black South Florida history that refuses to be forgotten. Through an intimate concert theater experience, Hued Songs blends soulful melodies, gospel rhythms and classical arrangements with spoken word and dance — creating a space where liberation and freedom are not just commemorated, but deeply felt.
Over at the Pérez Art Museum, celebrate Juneteenth with a performance by The Harden Project Duo on the waterfront terrace and happy hour specials at Verde restaurant and bar. Inside the museum, join a Black art tour, participate in art-making activities with local artists, or explore new exhibitions and permanent collection galleries until 9pm.
