JoLinda Herring, Esq. of BMO Recognized as Florida Trend Legal Elite Notable – Women Leaders in Law
JoLinda L. Herring, Esq., managing shareholder and CEO of Bryant Miller Olive P.A. (BMO), was recently recognized in the 2023 Florida Trend Legal Elite NOTABLE – Women Leaders in Law special section. As recognized leaders within their industry, the peer-nominated Women Leaders in Law are regarded for their leadership, vision, and ability to effect growth in the professional and civic organizations they serve.
Florida Trend invited peer nominations from across the state to recommend women leaders in law who met specific methodology and criteria parameters. Nominations were vetted by Florida Trend and the most noteworthy candidates were selected based on their outstanding leadership, mentorship, vision for change and growth.
“I am humbled and honored to be selected by Florida Trend as a Legal Elite Woman Leader in Law alongside an incredible group of women lawyers,” said Herring. “When I was selected as Managing Shareholder at BMO, my goal was to be a leader to the firm and continue to strengthen the firm’s culture of teamwork with a focus on diversity and inclusion. This award would not be possible without the hardworking team that we have built.”
Herring joined BMO as a Law Clerk while in law school and found an environment where her professional growth was as important to her colleagues and partners as it was to her. Today, Herring oversees the firm’s seven offices in Florida, Georgia and Washington D.C. She creates strategies to grow the firm while continuing to focus on developing under-tapped talent. Her practice is dedicated to municipal law, governmental tax-exempt financings and blue sky securities law, with an expertise in commercial paper programs.
She is an immediate past member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL) Board of Directors and currently serves as Chair of the Law School Seminar Committee, whose goal is to enhance the understanding of public finance law among law students across the United States and to cultivate a new generation of passionate public finance professionals. She is listed in the Municipal Bond Attorneys’ section of The Bond Buyer’s Municipal Marketplace.
She currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Fisk University and is the Chair of the Development Committee. She recently led the successful search for the 18th President of Fisk University. Higher education is a priority for her, and she established a scholarship fund for students at Fisk University and a scholarship fund for students at Florida Memorial University where she served as a member of the Board of Trustees and is the immediate past Chair of the FMU Board.
“The Florida Bar congratulates those members who were selected for this honor, which reflects their commitment to leadership, excellence and professionalism,” notes Florida Bar President F. Scott Westheimer.
“We are honored to present this section of Legal Elite NOTABLE – Women Leaders in Law, published in Florida Trend's December issue. This honor distinguishes and recognizes this select group of women for their outstanding contribution to their organization and industry. The section presents a short profile on each recognized leader, highlighting the impact they've made to their organization, the legal profession, and the community at large,” says Publisher David Denor.
