'Jewish Family Home Care' Honors Holocaust Survivors with Heartwarming Hanukkah Celebrations
This Hanukkah, Jewish Family Home Care – a not-for-profit agency – celebrated the festival of lights by bringing a ray of light to two of its beloved clients. In an act of compassion and connection, two dedicated full-time RNs from the organization visited their clients who are Holocaust Survivors, in their homes, bringing joy and a touch of tradition to their doorsteps. They not only presented them with a special menorah, candles and traditional sufganiyot (jelly donuts) but also with companionship, which is needed now more than ever, especially during the holiday season. This not only highlights the devotion of Jewish Family Home Care providing personalized care but also allows the organization a moment to underscore the resilience and spirit of these true survivors.
One of the clients the team visited was Leon Schagrin, whose personal story about surviving the Holocaust was reflected in the book, “The Horse Adjutant.”
Jewish Family Home Care provides multi-reach, non-medical home quality home care for Broward County, Florida seniors from all reaches of life and any faith. JFHC is one of the largest providers of home health care providing assistance to Holocaust survivors and anyone in Broward County needing in-home care. Providing service to more than 400 clients, JFHC offers services such as home health aides, companions, housekeepers and certified nursing assistants. It delivers tailor-made home health care plans, with special consideration to patients’ physical and emotional needs, as well as their family’s budget.
Each week, Jewish Family Home Care reaches out to all its clients for wellness checks. The organization also does 60-day RN lead supervisory visits on caregivers and provides CEU training for all staff members each year to assure the best quality care for clients. Quarterly caregivers are offered additional training and sensitivity training.
