Tickets are available now at WDNA.org, priced at $33 for WDNA members and $44 for non-members. Students are encouraged to attend for free, bring their instruments, and join the open jam session immediately following the concert.

Curated by acclaimed jazz artist Nicole Yarling, Jazz Encounters recently celebrated its 15th anniversary as one of Miami’s premier platforms for live jazz and educational exchange. The series continues to spotlight exceptional talent and foster community through live performance and interactive jams.

Mark Small is no stranger to the global music scene. Known for his versatile artistry, Small has performed with top-tier acts like Michael Bublé, Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, and has graced iconic stages from Broadway to the Sydney Opera House. His recording credits span film, television, and numerous acclaimed jazz albums.

As a composer and arranger, Small’s work has been featured by artists including Roxana Amed, Louis C.K., and Damon Grant. Beyond the stage, he is committed to growing South Florida’s jazz community through initiatives like the Visiting Jazz Artists Series at Miami Dade College (MDC) and curated performances at venues such as Lagniappe.

An esteemed educator, Small teaches at both the New World School of the Arts and MDC Wolfson, mentoring the next generation of jazz talent—many of whom have gone on to elite institutions like Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, and USC.

The event is made possible through the support of the Miami-Dade County Division of Cultural Affairs and Musicians Discount Center. Tickets at WDNA.org
