Miami Living takes you inside the Peterson family’s stunning Miami Beach residence. A home that blends modern sophistication with warmth and livability. Designed by IG Workshop (www.igworkshop.com), the visionary studio founded by Samantha Gallacher and Renata Vazconez, and built by Gary Sheer Construction, this waterfront property showcases a seamless balance of craftsmanship, natural materials, and contemporary design. From bespoke millwork to curated lighting and furniture, every detail tells a story of thoughtful collaboration, reflecting both the Petersons’ lifestyle and IG Workshop’s signature approach to design.

ML: What was the initial vision the Peterson family shared with you, and how did you translate that into the final design?

SG: The clients envisioned a home that would be both impressive in scale and warm in spirit—a place where they could raise their children in comfort while celebrating the architecture. They were drawn to the use of warm woods to balance the soaring ceiling heights, and they wanted the breathtaking views to serve as a focal point, all within a space that feels thoughtfully layered and inviting.

ML: IG Workshop is known for its curated use of natural materials—how did you incorporate elements like wood and stone to achieve warmth while keeping the home modern?

RV: We created a cohesive palette by layering wood, stone, steel, and bronze glass throughout the home, ensuring every space felt connected. The warmth of the wood balances the grandeur of the stone, while the bronze introduces a subtle sophistication. Together, these materials strike a harmony between modern elegance and inviting comfort.

ML: Many spaces in the home feature custom millwork and statement lighting. How do these details enhance both the aesthetics and functionality of the interiors?

SG: Every detail of the millwork and lighting was tailored specifically to this home, so the spaces feel both artful and unique. For the architectural lighting, we collaborated with Apure, whose discreet fixtures allowed us to maintain clean ceilings and in turn gave us the freedom to incorporate dramatic, large-scale decorative pieces. The custom millwork became the foundation of the design—by carrying a warm matte walnut throughout, we introduced a moodier, richer atmosphere that grounds the modern architecture while adding depth and warmth.

ML: Looking back at this project, what stands out most to you about bringing the Petersons’ dream home to life in Miami Beach?

RV: What stood out most was the incredible freedom the Petersons gave us to experiment with materials and push creative boundaries.

SG: The expansive scale of the spaces challenged us to develop innovative millwork techniques that introduced layers of depth and character, ensuring the home felt both dynamic and deeply personal.
