Supporters from across South Florida gathered at Bet Shira Congregation in Pinecrest on April 29 for the fifth annual Heartbeats for PATCHES Game Day, a community fundraiser supporting PATCHES Pediatric Nursing Center.

The event featured Mahjongg and Canasta games, a shopping bazaar with local vendors, and a buffet lunch provided by Milam’s Markets. Proceeds from the event and participating vendors will support PATCHES’ programs for children with complex medical conditions and their families.

Guests also heard from foster mother Cashmere Porter, whose adopted triplets have received care through PATCHES. Porter spoke alongside her 6-year-old foster daughter, Marielana Almestica, who currently attends the center while awaiting a kidney transplant.

Jennifer Resnick, President of Heartbeats for PATCHES, said the annual event continues to reflect the support the organization receives from the local community.

PATCHES provides nursing care, therapy, and developmental support services for medically fragile children across South Florida, regardless of their families’ ability to pay.

More information about PATCHES, including donation opportunities, is available at Heartbeats for PATCHES.
