Gucci's Latest Book Celebrates London’s Creative Contrasts

Gucci continues to explore the intersection of fashion, culture, and creative expression with the release of Gucci Prospettive 4: Ancora Londra, the latest volume in its artistic series. Under the vision of Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, this edition celebrates London—a city of contrasts and cultural richness—as a source of inspiration for Gucci's Cruise 2025 collection.

London was a natural choice for De Sarno’s first Cruise collection. Reflecting on its impact, he remarked, "This city has had a great impact on myself, welcoming me and listening to me in a moment of my life when feeling included could make a difference in my path.” This bond echoes the legacy of Guccio Gucci, whose ties to London’s iconic Savoy Hotel have become a cornerstone of the brand’s history.

The Cruise 2025 show was staged at the Tate Modern’s Tanks, a venue embodying London’s duality of industrial grit and poetic beauty. This setting further underscores Gucci's longstanding relationship with the English capital, bridging its storied past with innovative design and cultural dialogue.

Curated by Charlene Prempeh and Lewis Dalton Gilbert, founders of A Vibe Called Tech, Ancora Londra delves into London’s role as a hub of contrasts where diversity and creativity thrive. The book’s four chapters—Dream Buildings, People Watching, Watching People, and Building Dreams—highlight the dynamic interplay between the city's architecture, people, and innovation. Prempeh and Gilbert describe London as "a city of dreamers" where inspiration arises from unexpected places, defying classification and embracing contrasts.

Launched on November 14 at Gucci’s New Bond Street store, the event featured a discussion with the curators in the Gucci Salon and a cocktail reception showcasing newly installed artworks by artists such as Rachel Whiteread, Sunil Gupta, and Sonia Boyce. These installations mirror the themes of resilience and reinvention central to Gucci Prospettive 4.

This release marks a continuation of Gucci's dedication to celebrating creativity and storytelling. Published by Contrasto, the book invites readers to view contrasts as a catalyst for innovation, offering a fresh lens on London as a city that inspires dreamers and creators alike.
