The Miami HEAT has named Gale Nelson, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, as the team's new public address announcer. Starting with the 2026–27 NBA season, Nelson will serve as the official Voice of the HEAT at Kaseya Center. He replaces Michael "Mike B" Baiamonte, who retired at the conclusion of the 2025–26 season following a 35-year tenure that included three NBA championship runs.

Nelson brings over two decades of local leadership experience to the microphone, having directed youth mentorship programs across Miami-Dade County through his executive role at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. His initial experience in sports announcing dates back to his high school years in Toledo, Ohio, under the guidance of former NBA player James Ray. Nelson will continue his executive leadership responsibilities with the nonprofit organization while fulfilling his game-night duties for the franchise.

The franchise selected Nelson to introduce a updated atmosphere for game-night operations, combining professional vocal delivery with established local community ties. His tenure at Kaseya Center officially begins on October 6 during the annual Red, White & Pink intra-squad scrimmage. His regular-season preseason debut follows on October 8 against the New Orleans Pelicans.
