Wayan, the acclaimed New York City restaurant from Chef Cédric Vongerichten and partner Ochi Vongerichten, opened a limited-time residency in Wynwood on Friday, January 16, 2026. Located at 50 NW 24th St, the pop-up brought the flagship’s French-Indonesian cuisine to Miami through May 2026.

The residency adapted Wayan’s signature shareable menu to highlight South Florida’s seasonal ingredients. Cédric Vongerichten, who trained under his father Jean-Georges Vongerichten, blended classic French techniques with Southeast Asian flavors, incorporating local seafood such as Key West shrimp, Florida stone crab, and wahoo.

Menu Highlights and Design

The Wynwood location featured a mix of Manhattan staples and residency-exclusive dishes. Notable menu items included:

  • Small Plates: Wahoo tartare ceviche-style, hiramasa crudo with ginger-turmeric dressing, and escargot rendang served with toasted brioche.

  • Main Courses: Lobster noodles with black pepper butter, grilled grouper ikan bakar, and crispy red snapper with sambal tomat.

  • Satay Selection: A variety of skewers including lamb with sweet soy and chicken with peanut sauce.

The beverage program showcased tropical, Indonesian-inspired cocktails, such as the Calamansi Fizz and the Indo-Negroni made with lemongrass gin and pandan.

The 108-seat space reflected a "sun-soaked" version of the downtown Manhattan original. It featured an open kitchen, a chef’s counter, and outdoor seating. The design utilized natural materials, including wooden elements and wall textures sourced directly from Indonesia, accented by woven rattan fixtures and a banana-leaf chandelier.

Legacy and Expansion

Cédric and Ochi Vongerichten opened the original Wayan in 2019, which earned a place in the Michelin Guide and was named one of Esquire’s Best New Restaurants. The duo has previously expanded their concept through seasonal residencies in East Hampton and a permanent location in Aspen.

The Miami residency operates daily, with reservations managed through Resy.
