Florida Grand Opera Prepares New Season and Calls for Subscriber Support
Florida Grand Opera is preparing its upcoming season with new productions, sets, costumes, and internationally recognized singers, aiming to deliver performances that build on the company’s 85-year history in South Florida.
The company notes that subscription revenue covers only a portion of production costs, with ticket income accounting for about 30 percent of the funding needed for each opera. Additional donor support helps underwrite world-class singers, a live orchestra, and the extensive artistic and technical work required to stage grand opera.
Supporters who contribute alongside their subscriptions receive access to dress rehearsals, a donor lounge, and special events. Florida Grand Opera says that philanthropic gifts also enable it to share performances with students, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and underserved communities across South Florida through outreach and educational programs.
Founded in 1941 as the Opera Guild of Greater Miami, Florida Grand Opera now presents classic grand opera, contemporary works, and new commissions in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. The organization, which operates the Florida Grand Opera Studio artist training program, is currently under the direction of Maria Todaro and continues to present productions across the region.
