Florida Grand Opera Marks 85th Anniversary Season With Arturo Chacón-Cruz in Lucia di Lammermoor

Florida Grand Opera is preparing to open its 85th anniversary season in South Florida this November, highlighting both its mainstage productions and its ongoing community programs.
The company reports that its recent initiatives have introduced opera to new audiences, including children attending performances through funded transportation, veterans and their families participating in the Voices of Wellness program, and community members attending free concerts.

This November, tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz will open Florida Grand Opera’s 85th Anniversary Season in Lucia di Lammermoor in the role of Edgardo. The opera is historically significant to the company as the work in which Luciano Pavarotti made his American debut on its stage.
Alongside its mainstage performances, Florida Grand Opera plans to expand its Voices of Wellness initiative this season, increasing complimentary seats from 750 to 1,000 for veterans, military personnel, first responders, healthcare workers and their families.
