Florida Grand Opera has announced an all-Italian 2026–2027 season in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, presenting three full productions and a one-night concert featuring highlights from Giuseppe Verdi’s operas.

The season begins with Gaetano Donizetti’s "Lucia di Lammermoor," described as a tragic love story set in the Scottish Highlands. The opera follows Lucia and Edgardo, lovers from rival families whose relationship collapses under political pressure and misunderstanding, leading to Lucia’s famous mad scene and Edgardo’s final reckoning.
"Lucia di Lammermoor" will be performed at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, Ziff Ballet Opera House, on November 14, 2026 at 7:00 PM, November 15, 2026 at 3:00 PM, and November 17, 2026 at 8:00 PM in Miami.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s "Don Giovanni" follows, portraying the exploits of the title character and his servant Leporello as they navigate a series of seductions and confrontations. After Don Giovanni kills the father of one of his victims and refuses to repent, the story concludes with a supernatural act of justice.
"Don Giovanni" is scheduled at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House on January 30, 2027 at 7:00 PM, January 31, 2027 at 3:00 PM, and February 2, 2027 at 8:00 PM in Miami.
Additional performances will take place at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Au-Rene Theater, on February 18, 2027 at 7:30 PM and February 20, 2027 at 7:30 PM in Fort Lauderdale.
Giuseppe Verdi’s "Nabucco" continues the season with a story of exile and power set during the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem. As King Nabucco asserts his dominance, internal conflict involving Abigaille and Fenena challenges his rule and opens a path to redemption after a period of destruction.
"Nabucco" will be presented at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House on April 17, 2027 at 7:00 PM, April 18, 2027 at 3:00 PM, and April 20, 2027 at 8:00 PM in Miami.
The company will also offer a one-night Verdi tribute concert in Fort Lauderdale, featuring FGO’s full chorus and orchestra along with international soloists. The program is set to include arias and ensembles from "La traviata," "Rigoletto," "Aida," "Nabucco," "Il trovatore," "Don Carlos," "Otello," and other Verdi works.
The Verdi concert is scheduled for May 1, 2027 at 7:30 PM at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Au-Rene Theater, in Fort Lauderdale.
