Florida Grand Opera has unveiled its 2026–27 programming in Miami and Broward County, outlining a season that features two major operas and a special concert dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi.

In Miami, the company will present Gaetano Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, with a libretto by Salvadore Cammarano, at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County’s Ziff Ballet Opera House. Set in the Scottish Highlands, the opera follows Lucia and Edgardo, whose love defies a family feud. After Lucia is forced into a political marriage and believes Edgardo has deserted her, she suffers a psychological breakdown on her wedding night, culminating in the work’s famed mad scene. Edgardo later discovers the truth, resulting in a tragic conclusion.

Performances in Miami are scheduled for November 14, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., November 15, 2026 at 3:00 p.m., and November 17, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. at the Ziff Ballet Opera House.

The Miami season also includes Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Don Giovanni, with a libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. The opera portrays Don Giovanni as a man who uses charm to manipulate others, pursuing a string of romantic conquests alongside his servant Leporello. After Giovanni kills the father of a woman he has wronged, the consequences escalate as the women he deceived unite against him. In the final scenes, a supernatural reckoning leads to his downfall.

Don Giovanni will be performed at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House on January 30, 2027 at 7:00 p.m., January 31, 2027 at 3:00 p.m., and February 2, 2027 at 8:00 p.m.

In Broward County, Don Giovanni will also be presented at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ Au-Rene Theater in Fort Lauderdale, offering audiences there the chance to experience Mozart’s drama of seduction and retribution.

Fort Lauderdale performances are set for February 18 at 7:30 p.m. and February 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Au-Rene Theater.

The Broward season will also feature Viva Verdi! a concert devoted to the music of Giuseppe Verdi. Florida Grand Opera plans an immersive program with the company’s full chorus and orchestra and a roster of international soloists, drawing on excerpts from works such as La traviata, Aida, Il trovatore and Nabucco. The family-oriented event is described as including a revised, animal-friendly version of Aida’s Triumphal March, conceived as part of the company’s 85th anniversary season.

Viva Verdi! will take place at the Broward Center’s Au-Rene Theater in Fort Lauderdale on May 1, 2027 at 7:30 p.m.
