Feeding South Florida Expands Summer Meals Program for Children Across Four Counties

Summer vacation leaves thousands of children across South Florida without access to the free or reduced-price school meals they rely on during the academic year, creating a critical gap in nutrition for low-income families.

To address this need, Feeding South Florida, the region’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization, is sponsoring the USDA Summer Food Service Program and providing meals to children at Summer BreakSpots and pop-up pantries in low-income communities.

Through its Summer Meals Program, the nonprofit offers free breakfasts, lunches, and snacks to children 18 and under throughout the summer months. This year, Feeding South Florida is operating 34 Summer Meals sites across Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Monroe Counties in partnership with schools, parks, libraries, community centers, and other local organizations.

In addition to its summer feeding sites, Feeding South Florida supports families through Community Caring Centers, food pantries, and services at its warehouses in Pembroke Park in Broward County and Boynton Beach in Palm Beach County, helping ensure children maintain reliable access to nutritious food until they return to school.
