Fantasy Theatre Factory Launches New Residency Program with $100,000 Pérez CreARTE Grant

Fantasy Theatre Factory is launching a new residency initiative after receiving a $100,000 Pérez CreARTE 2025 grant from The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation. The funding supports the creation of the CAP@SRT Residency at the Sandrell Rivers Theater, expanding access to rehearsal and performance space for emerging and under-resourced performing arts groups across Miami-Dade County.
The two-year investment allows the organization to offer no-cost residencies that include rehearsal and stage space, production support, marketing assistance, and participation in Business of the Arts sessions designed to help small arts companies build operational capacity. The program addresses a longstanding challenge in Miami’s performing arts community: the high cost and limited availability of professional venues.
The grant is part of the broader Pérez CreARTE Grants Program, an arts initiative established in 2019 to expand cultural access throughout South Florida. Led by Jorge and Darlene Pérez through their family foundation, CreARTE has awarded more than $16 million to date. The 2025 grant cycle will distribute over $5 million to 43 projects supporting visual and performing arts, educational programs, and artist residencies across Miami-Dade County.
Fantasy Theatre Factory launched the original Cultural Arts Partnership in 2021 to provide Miami-based artists with access to professional stage space. Since then, the initiative has supported more than 30 productions featuring creators from across South Florida’s Black, Latino, LGBTQ+, and multilingual communities. The new residency formalizes and expands that support by offering yearlong access to facilities, mentorship, and organizational tools aimed at helping artists build sustainable careers.
