The Peters Twins: The Dynamic Duo Who Does It All

Actresses and Elite Athletes Nicole and Lauren Peters Discuss Their Roles In The Film “Twin Lies”, Season 10 of “The Amazing Race Canada,” and The Unusual Perks Of Being An Identical Twin.

Lauren and Nicole Peters, also known as The Peters Twins, are captivating audiences around the world. These up-and-coming actresses recently starred in the Tubi original film, “Twin Lies”, a thriller following twins Nina and Victoria. Before starring in a film alongside each other, the pair can be seen in Netflix’s “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story” alongside Jerry Seinfeld and Melissa McCarthy, and as young Blake Lively in “A Simple Favor”.

Not only are they actresses, but this dynamic duo represents Team Canada as elite water skiers on the country’s show skiing team. The twins can currently be seen competing on “The Amazing Race Canada”, utilizing their extensive athletic skills and on-screen charisma, making them an unforgettable pair.

Beyond acting and athletic abilities, Lauren and Nicole are remarkable scholars, passionate about learning and education.

Here, Miami Living chats with the Peters Twins, discussing their role in “Twin Lies”, season 10 of “The Amazing Race Canada”, a shared love for the vibrant city of Miami, and more.

Miami Living: After finishing school, you were both accepted into multiple law schools. What made you decline these offers and pursue acting? When did you realize acting was the dream?

Nicole: We have a myriad of interests with law definitely being one of them. Though law school is a top goal as well we knew if we were going to pursue acting further, the time would be now. We realized acting was the dream simply by how when we spoke about acting, our faces would instantly light up.

Lauren: Acting has always been our passion, but we have always had this academic side to us as well that prompted us to write our LSATs after finishing our undergraduate degrees! Scoring identical competitive scores, Nicole and I have been fortunate to get offers from numerous law schools. We have put these on hold as it was always our dream to pack up and move to Hollywood to further pursue this artistic side! We have had numerous exciting projects come out recently and hopefully, a lot more are in the works so stay tuned! We are big believers in doing it all and watch out for the next identical twin actors and lawyers!

Miami Living: “Twin Lies” is a thriller filled with deception and intrigue. What drew you to this genre, and tell us about your roles and the most challenging aspect of playing Nina and Victoria?

Nicole: Though we love many different genres, there is something about a thriller like this that keeps you on your toes. “A Simple Favor” was a thriller as well so I definitely have had some experience in this genre. Nina and Victoria from “Twin Lies” are dynamic, complex, spicy, and just all-around lovable characters. One of the most challenging aspects actually began at the audition stage. Though we auditioned for both twins, trying to figure out which one of us resonated with which one more was difficult. When it came to being on set and when I was cast as Nina, a lot rested on me portraying her. She is in nearly every scene of the movie and making sure I brought all of her layers to life was a challenge but definitely a fun one at that!

Lauren: I absolutely love delving into drama and suspense and this film let me do just that. Its storyline is quite unique, and it is such a fun watch with lots of twists and turns! Nicole and I are so fortunate to be the leads alongside each other in this film. We differentiated these twins and gave them their own personalities and stories while maintaining that unique twin bond.

Miami Living: How did your experiences in “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story” and “A Simple Favor” prepare you for your lead roles in “Twin Lies”?

Nicole: Working alongside and learning on set first-hand from household names instilled in me both the confidence and experience needed to be a lead.

Lauren: Playing the iconic “Doublemint Twins” in Jerry Seinfeld’s recent directorial debut “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story” and Hope and Faith McLanden (Young Blake Lively) in Paul Feig’s “A Simple Favor” very much so prepared me for my lead role in “Twin Lies”. I have been so fortunate to work with and learn from A-list casts and crews on these projects.

Miami Living: Working alongside industry giants like Jerry Seinfeld, Melissa McCarthy, and Blake Lively must have been incredible. Can you share any memorable moments or lessons from those experiences?

Nicole: Booking any type of a role is a huge feat and being able to book them with such celebrities is unreal. Listening to Jerry Seinfeld’s jokes and being directed by him, having my cast chair right next to Melissa McCarthy and simply talking and joking about how Lauren and I would switch places in school, to getting the best hugs from Blake Lively when we would see her on set or at the premiere—these are memories I will remember forever and they are three of many role models I’ve been fortunate enough to work with and look up to.

Lauren: Working alongside industry giants and star-studded casts and crews quite early on in my career has been exceptionally memorable and influential for me.

Having the honour of being selected to play the younger version of Blake Lively’s character gave me the confidence to do quite literally anything! Watching these actors act first-hand was special and I learned a lot being directed by Paul Feig and Jerry Seinfeld.

Miami Living: Being twins means you share many experiences. Can you share special moments from your upbringing, including your professional lives, where being twins gave you a unique advantage?

Nicole: Though we are determined and hardworking on our own, being twins is definitely a superpower. Being twins has allowed us to work together in school, sports, and acting. A few fun examples include scoring the exact same score on our LSAT, running cross country together growing up with our strides exactly in sync, and persuading casting directors to make a single role into a twin one by adding our twin magic to a self-tape!

Lauren: Nicole and I always believe that with us 1+1=3. We work together so well and pull off some remarkable ventures that I attest a lot to being an identical twin and working through things together.

Nicole and I excel working together—whether that be in acting roles, in water skiing acts, etc.—using our “Double Trouble” energy is our thing! Lauren

Though we are determined and hardworking on our own, being twins is definitely a superpower. — Nicole

Miami Living: Are there any disadvantages or challenges you’ve faced because you are twins that you’d like to share?

Nicole: I would choose being a twin a million times over but competing against each other for one acting role is difficult.

Lauren: Nicole and I absolutely love filming projects and acting together—however sometimes I worry when we audition for the same, singular role we confuse the casting directors/production and they don’t know who to choose! Lol!

Miami Living: Competitiveness is often a theme among siblings. Is that the case for both of you? If so, can you tell us more about it?

Nicole: We definitely have a healthy competition going. We push each other to be our best at all times, and I think in part that is how we have managed to achieve all that we have.

Lauren: It’s quite funny because oftentimes in acting, if it is not a twin role, we will be auditioning against each other for the same role! I’ll be her reader during her self-tape and vice versa and we’ll help each other send in the best possible tape, despite the fact that we are vying for the same role! Hey, I’d rather book the role but if it doesn’t go my way I wouldn’t want anyone else to have it but my twin sister of course!

Miami Living: As elite athletes representing Team Canada in water skiing, how do you balance your rigorous training schedule with your acting commitments?

Nicole: Lauren and I somehow thrive off of having lots on the go. However, being able to balance important commitments and give proper attention and effort to both is definitely a challenge at times. I balance my training schedule with my acting commitments by making a clear schedule and just simply staying determined. I also do not feel like these commitments are mutually exclusive; for instance, ski shows require me to perform so I am always honing my skills for both. At the end of the day, I am a strong believer that if you want to do something bad enough you will make it happen.

Lauren: Balancing our acting careers with anything is usually quite a feat as the acting industry is so unpredictable! However, when Nicole and I are passionate about something—acting and being Team Canada National Water Skiers, we don’t let the possibility of not doing both exist. We may be reciting lines while barefooting or on the top of a show skiing pyramid but hey if that’s what we have to do, that’s what we will do!

Miami Living: How has your athletic training helped you the most in your acting career and on “The Amazing Race Canada”?

Nicole: My athletic training has helped me in my acting career and on “The Amazing Race Canada” in that it has taught me to never give up. I played every sport growing up and even on Team Canada’s Show Skiing team, I often would tackle new skills I wasn’t familiar with and sheer grit and determination allowed me to do as well as I did. Never giving up in my acting career and on “The Amazing Race Canada” is key.

Lauren: It has taught me a lot about teamwork, perseverance, the importance of practicing and working hard, and handling myself under pressure. On a set, much like on Team Canada, it is not just you and your character, or likewise only your role in the ski show that pulls the project together, rather it is the cohesiveness of the cast and crew on set or all the skiers in Team Canada that makes something successful. Furthermore, in water skiing, athletes fall and make mistakes, but the show always goes on. In acting, you cannot let one rejection make you want to quit, rather it should fuel you to get the next role! Likewise, on “The Amazing Race Canada”, my mental and physical abilities were completely put to the test. However, my ability to be able to handle myself under pressure—a skill garnered from both acting and professional water skiing really helped me to complete each and every task efficiently and effectively.

Miami Living: Competing on “The Amazing Race Canada” must be incredibly demanding. What has been the most surprising or challenging aspect of the race so far?

Nicole: I am always up for a challenge but competing on “The Amazing Race Canada” has truly been like no other experience. Although it has been incredible, it is extremely demanding physically, mentally, and emotionally. I think the most challenging aspect has been trying to not put too much pressure on myself. My sister and I hold ourselves to the highest standards and want to always do our very best so the pressure and keeping that in check can definitely be a lot.

Lauren: The non-stop “go, go, go” nature of the race was probably one of the most challenging aspects of it. This race, although televised, is no joke and thus Nicole and I were giving it our all for hours on hours every single day. Furthermore, the level of competitiveness on our season especially has been like no other!

Miami Living: Can you share a favorite or particularly memorable moment from your time on “The Amazing Race Canada”?

Nicole: I think my favourite moment from my time on the race would just be proving people wrong. Lauren and I are quite friendly, have our little pink jackets on, and always have a big smile on our faces—however, we are fierce competitors. Placing at the top of every single episode so far and for lack of better words “kicking butt” has definitely been fun!

Lauren: There have been so many memorable moments on “The Amazing Race Canada”—and even more to come! However, thus far I’d have to say our detour in Episode 1; Nicole and I gained an enormous lead by memorizing pages of lines in one attempt which took many teams hours and countless attempts. Furthermore, rappelling down the side of Niagara Falls and off-roading in pickup trucks definitely felt pretty badass!!

Miami Living: How has your sisterly bond and teamwork been tested or strengthened through the challenges of the race?

Nicole: My twin sister and I have always been very close and know what each other is thinking without even having to communicate it, so we always knew our teamwork abilities were strong. However, competing in the race definitely strengthened our bond and teamwork even more. Though we knew we had what it took, trusting each other to the max and watching each other pull off intense challenges was an amazing experience.

Lauren: Nicole and I excel working together—whether that be in acting roles, in water skiing acts, etc.—using our “Double Trouble” energy is our thing! Our bond being an identical twin is so close and this race proved that even more!

Miami Living: While you were in Miami, how did you spend your time?

Nicole: Miami is such a special place and I have had the best experiences going there whether it has been for my birthday, big UFC fights, concerts, the list goes on. I love the beaches, boating, of course, Carbone and so much more.

Lauren: I have only had the best experiences in Miami! I have spent some beautiful evenings at wonderful Miami restaurants, as well as enjoying the beautiful weather and beaches. Since being in LA, I have actually met quite a few amazing people from Miami and so I love heading over to visit them when I have the time!

Miami Living: Have you tried or would you like to try water skiing in Miami’s beaches and bays? If so, what are the key factors for a memorable experience?

Nicole: I typically only water ski on lakes, aside from one time on the ocean in Cabo. Nevertheless, I never say no to a new experience, especially if it involves doing what I love, so I 100% would in Miami. Any time being out on the water is a memorable experience in my books!

Lauren: Unfortunately, I have never tried water skiing in Miami’s beaches and bays! Florida, specifically Winter Haven, has some incredible water skiing areas, so water skiing in Miami would be a heck of a time, I’m sure! Good water and unreal vibes—let’s head to Miami and do some skiing!

Miami Living: What were your favorite experiences in Miami? How did the city impact you, and what were your key takeaways?

Nicole: Miami is so vibrant with so much to do and simply even answering these questions is making me itch to visit again soon!

Lauren: I love the people, water, boats, and restaurants in Miami! I was filming “Twin Lies” last December so could not attend but will definitely aim to check out Art Basel this upcoming December!

Miami Living: After accomplishing so much in the first 26 years of your lives, what’s next for the Peters twins? Can you tell us about any upcoming endeavors or goals for the future?

Nicole: We love tackling any new project but something that we have our eyes set on is the new Baywatch series that Fox is doing. We have done numerous movies now in our careers and to be characters in a TV series together and one that couples our love for acting and watersports would be a dream!

Lauren: A lot is next, let’s just say that! Specifically, Nicole and I, as well as our management team have our eyes set on landing a twin role on the new FOX Baywatch series that is in development! Previous Baywatch star Pamela Anderson is Canadian so hey, it only makes sense!
