AfriKin Art Fair 2024 to Explore Climate & Cultural Connections Through Art, Dec. 1-8, 2024

The AfriKin Art Fair 2024, organized by Miami-based nonprofit AfriKin in partnership with the City of North Miami and the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), is set to return for its 10th year. The event, taking place from December 1-8, 2024, at Maison AfriKin in the Scott Galvin Community Center, will feature the theme ‘Threads of Life in Fragments of Time.’  Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with African contemporary art that explores connections between humanity, the earth, and the cosmos.

This year’s showcase will address pressing global issues such as displacement, environmental challenges, and healing through a variety of mediums, including visual and performance art, photography, and interactive digital installations. A standout feature will be ‘Submerged Sentience,’ an immersive installation focusing on climate change. The piece will highlight critical topics like water scarcity and rising sea levels through a series of photographs, films, and reenactments.

The fair will also host artist talks discussing inclusivity, the power of art to transcend barriers, and the importance of supporting communities in need.
