Elton John to Perform at LACMA’s 2022 Art+Film Gala

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) announced today that global icon Elton John will perform at the 2022 Art+Film Gala. This year’s event honors artist Helen Pasghian and filmmaker Park Chan-wook. Co-chaired by LACMA trustee Eva Chow and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, this celebration of art and film will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2022. During cocktails, guests will enjoy a DJ performance by award-winning artist, photographer and producer Derrick “D-Nice” Jones. Gucci continues its invaluable partnership with the museum as the presenting sponsor of the annual event. Additional support for the gala is provided by Audi.

At the 2021 Art+Film Gala, more than 650 prominent guests celebrated the achievements of artists Amy Sherald and Kehinde Wiley and filmmaker Steven Spielberg. The evening included a lively musical performance by Celeste as well as a special menu prepared by renowned chef Joachim Splichal of Patina and chef Mattia Agazzi of Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura Beverly Hills.The 2021 Art+Film Gala raised $5 million, with proceeds supporting LACMA’s film initiatives and future exhibitions, acquisitions, and programming.



Art+Film Gala proceeds are used to support LACMA’s initiative to make film more central to the museum’s curatorial programming, while also funding LACMA’s broader mission. This includes exhibitions, acquisitions, and educational programming, in addition to screenings that explore the intersection of art and film.


In recent years, LACMA has dynamically increased its curatorial programming to include film-related exhibitions such as Tim Burton; Dalí: Painting & Film; Masterworks of Expressionist Cinema: Caligari and Metropolis; Stanley Kubrick; Hans Richter: Encounters; Under the Mexican Sky: Gabriel Figueroa—Art and Film; David Hockney: Seven Yorkshire Landscape Videos, 2011; Agnès Varda in Californialand; David Hockney: The Jugglers; Haunted Screens: German Cinema in the 1920s; Christian Marclay’s The Clock; Diana Thater: The Sympathetic Imagination; Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters; CARNE y ARENA (Virtually present, Physically invisible); The Art of the Movie Poster: Highlights from the Mike Kaplan Collection; Roma: Alfonso Cuarón; Teresa Hubbard / Alexander Birchler: Flora; Merce Cunningham: Clouds and Screens; Isaac Julien: Playtime; and City of Cinema: Paris 1850–1907.
