Updated: May 18, 2022

Craig T. Downs, Esq., founder and principal attorney of The Downs Law Group, is pleased to announce that Elsa De Lima, Esq. has joined the firm as an attorney. In her new role, she will serve as one of the lead counsels representing plaintiffs in a historic case against the City of Miami for its ownership and operation of the incinerator known as “Old Smokey.” Additionally, she is part of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon BP Oil Spill litigation team, a historic case involving children and adults throughout the Gulf Rim who have been injured as a result of the spill and are seeking damages for their pain and suffering and medical expenses.

Prior to joining The Downs Law Group, De Lima was an associate in a multi-billion-dollar data company and law firm. Here, she was primarily focused on litigation and the research and development of cases used to spearhead litigation strategy. In that capacity, De Lima, in conjunction with other cross-functional associates, was responsible for interpreting and analyzing the claims data and utilizing it to pursue lawsuits across the nation in the space of property and casualty and mass torts. In addition to litigating cases in both state and federal court, De Lima also identified new litigation opportunities and constructed damage models used in litigation.

De Lima was also a shareholder and director of business development & legal services for Wentworth Hampshire, Inc., a portfolio management company that specialized in supporting organizations that enhance the development and sustainability of healthcare services. Alongside the CEO, De Lima was one of the original pioneers involved in the creation and implementation of the business plan that established Wentworth Hampshire and its subsidiary organizations.
