DVCAI Opens 'Riddims of Graffiti' Solo Exhibition by Izia Lindsay on May 14, 2026
DVCAI at Barry University will present Riddims of Graffiti, a solo exhibition featuring mixed media artist Izia Lindsay, MFA, Assistant Professor of Art at Augustana University. The exhibition opens May 14, 2026 and runs through August 22, 2026 at Barry University and is free and open to the public.
Lindsay works across digital and traditional media, drawing on Caribbean iconography rooted in regional traditions and reimagined through contemporary ideas to build layered visual narratives. His practice examines identity and class in a post-colonial context, incorporating material culture, indigenous histories, lived customs, and the changing social and physical landscape of the Caribbean.
Known for geometric forms and dynamic compositions, Lindsay describes his approach as a kind of “controlled naturalism,” where intersecting lines and shapes overlap and hold multiple meanings. The works in Riddims of Graffiti form a cultural narrative that reflects the dualities and tensions of contemporary Caribbean life.
