As audition-based theater programs gain traction nationwide, more institutions are offering young performers professional training before college. The Florida Musical Theatre Intensive at the Dr. Phillips Center provides a summer program for high school students led by industry professionals.

The program challenges participants to train, perform, and collaborate during a production process, culminating in a fully staged show. Students will attend masterclasses with guest artists to gain practical insight and skill development. The session concludes with a musical production performed at the venue's Steinmetz Hall.
The all-inclusive program covers housing, meals, classes, rehearsals, and special events. The organization also offers scholarship opportunities for interested students. As demand grows for pre-professional arts opportunities, this program provides a model for how summer training prepares the next generation of performers.
