Documentary ‘Gracias Botero’ Honors Fernando Botero’s Legacy After 2023 Passing

A new documentary titled GRACIAS BOTERO explores the life, legacy, and global impact of Fernando Botero, focusing on public and private tributes following the artist’s death in 2023.
Released on April 19, the date that would have marked Botero’s 94th birthday, the film presents an account of the week-long state funeral held in Colombia and the subsequent celebration of his life and burial in Tuscany.
Directed by Don Millar and produced by New Theory Pictures, GRACIAS BOTERO was filmed in Bogotá, Medellín, and Pietrasanta with the support of the Fernando Botero Foundation, and features the voices of Botero’s three children as they reflect on the global response to his passing and the reach of his artistic and philanthropic legacy.
