Debut Galleries/

Design Miami/ is delighted to welcome two debut exhibitors to its Paris fair. Galerie Desprez-Breheret (Paris)’s debut presentation responds to the historic venue, conjuring the aesthetic of a Parisian hôtel re-designed in the 1970s by a notable decorator for a collector. The vision is furnished with seating by designer Dan Pollock, who crafts monoxyle and singular furniture carved from eco-responsible, dead wood collected in the Californian desert, offering a raw elegance that contrasts with the ornate interiors of the mansion. Pollock’s works are complemented by pieces by Jean Touret, Joseph Savina, Odile Noll and Pierre Paulin. Also presenting for the first time is Karry Berreby (Paris), an icon of Parisian style famed for curating collections of unconventional and exuberant jewelry celebrated by fashion editors. On the occasion of Design Miami/ Paris, her eponymous gallery presents a selection of masterful jewels by Bulgari, Piaget, and Chopard.

Design at Large/

The fair also presents a magnificent Design at Large programme, showcasing works in dialogue with the historic surroundings of L’hôtel de Maisons, with select pieces from the exhibiting galleries presented in the house, courtyard and across the beautiful gardens. Among the highlights, Galerie Patrick Seguin presents a 6x6 Demountable House designed by Jean Prouvé in 1944. Now considered an architectural feat, the design was a temporary housing solution for those made homeless in France by the Second World War. Further highlights include a pair of La Villette chairs by Philippe Starck presented by Ketabi Bourdet, specially commissioned for France’s Parc de la Villette in 1985; Ane Attelé (grand), a noteworthy Lalanne piece presented by Galerie Mitterand; and Vincent Dubourg’s Delta, a striking work that fuses sculpture, shelter and architecture, presented by Galerie SCENE OUVERTE.

Special Institutional Project/

Paulin Paulin Paulin and Mobilier National (Paris) collaboratively present an ensemble of furniture designed by Pierre Paulin for Président François Mitterrand, prototyped with the Mobilier National, offered as a limited edition by Paulin, Paulin, Paulin. Mobilier National shares with Paulin Paulin Paulin the same ambition: to protect, highlight, and bring to the public the works of Pierre Paulin as well as the craftsmanship of the Atelier de Recherche et de Création (ARC) through whom Pierre Paulin has created some of his most iconic pieces, prototyped in the national manufactures.

Design Miami/ Paris x Furniture Archive/

Furniture Archive, a platform and brand for design enthusiasts, has collaborated with Design Miami/ on a limited capsule of apparel and accessories to commemorate the inaugural event. The collection graphics feature the Hôtel de Maisons. Furniture Archive aims to highlight the Parisian influence on the design and cultural significance of the 18th-century building in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Including a t-shirt, hooded sweatshirt and zip tote bag, the Design Miami/ x Furniture Archive collection releases this Thursday, October 19th at 10am PST, exclusively on Basic.Space.

Miami Design District presents Expression. Service. Essence. by Samuel Ross/

On the occasion of Design Miami/ Paris, Miami Design District presents Expression. Service. Essence. by Samuel Ross, a prototype bench set to go on show in the Design District during Design Miami/ 2023 this December. In a society that is often connected through digital surfaces, the functional sculpture encourages physical engagement: allowing viewers to transition from actor to protagonist through the basic acts of sitting, standing, leaning and lurching.
