Design Meets Sculpture at DEDON’s DCOTA Spring Market 2026 Event

DEDON hosted a design-focused event during DCOTA Spring Market 2026, bringing together designers and guests for a private unveiling followed by an open house at its showroom. Titled “Icons of Rhythm: The Cadence of Craft,” the March 19 gathering centered on a collaboration with ceramic artist Manuel Colón.

The concept was straightforward. A group of designers selected pieces from DEDON’s collections as inspiration. Colón translated those references into ceramic sculptures, turning woven outdoor furniture into sculptural forms.

Among the designers, Sarah Zohar drew from the architectural presence of the MBRACE Lounge Chair, while Susan Lin focused on the balance of softness and structure in the ATOLO Lounge Chair. Erika Soza-Mejia explored layered materials through the KIDA Lounge Chair, and Maggie Kottman Braun highlighted the versatility of the SATELLITE tables.

Colón’s approach focused on the relationship between texture and volume. His process echoed DEDON’s woven construction, using layered ceramic techniques and natural glazes that oxidize and evolve over time outdoors. This reinforced the connection between material, form, and environment.

The event offered a clear look at how design and craft intersect, presenting new interpretations of familiar objects through a different material lens. More information about the brand is available at dedon.us.
