Derek Jeter's Turn 2 Foundation Brings Baseball to the Youth of Miami With MLB "Play Ball" Event

On Saturday, March 8, Major League Baseball (MLB) partnered with Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation to host an exciting and impactful "Play Ball" event at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. The event welcomed 150 local youth from both Miami-Dade and Broward Counties for an unforgettable day filled with baseball and softball activities, inspiring young athletes to explore the game and develop their skills.

The highlight of the event came in the form of a surprise Q&A session with Derek Jeter, a 15-time MLB All-Star and Hall of Famer. The session provided an opportunity for the young attendees to interact with one of the most beloved figures in baseball history. Joining Jeter were Sharlee Jeter, President of the Turn 2 Foundation, and David James, MLB’s Vice President of Baseball and Softball Development, who also participated in the discussions and shared their knowledge and insights on the game.

The "Play Ball" event was designed to introduce kids to the fundamentals of baseball and softball in a fun and engaging way. With the goal of making the sport more accessible, the activities were tailored for beginners, focusing on basic skills while encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship. Participants were able to experience the joy of the game and learn important life lessons that extend beyond the field.
