The Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami (CCBM), under the artistic direction of Eriberto Jiménez, will present Le Corsaire Suite on Saturday, May 16 at 8:00 PM at the Fillmore Miami Beach.

Based on Lord Byron’s epic poem The Corsair (1814), this romantic adventure tells the story of pirates, maidens, slave merchants, and pashas set against the exotic backdrop of the Mediterranean. CCBM’s Le Corsaire Suite brings together some of the most beloved scenes from the full-length ballet, including Le Jardin Animé, Pas d’Esclave, Grand Pas de Trois des Odalisques, and the celebrated Le Corsaire Pas de Deux, one of the most iconic and frequently performed excerpts in classical ballet.
The production features Cuban principal dancers Marize Fumero, Chanell Cabrera, Jorge Oscar Sánchez, and Adrián Sánchez, accompanied by CCBM’s soloists and corps de ballet.
The ballet Le Corsaire was first presented in 1837 at the King’s Theatre in London, with choreography by François Albert and music by Nicholas Bochsa. The work was later reimagined in 1856 by Joseph Mazilier at the Paris Opera, with music by Adolphe Adam, where it achieved great success. Subsequent revisions by Jules Perrot and later by Marius Petipa between 1863 and 1899 helped establish the ballet as one of the great classics of the repertoire.
Founded in 2006 by Pedro Pablo Peña, the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami has established itself as one of South Florida’s premier professional ballet institutions dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich heritage and tradition of the Cuban School of Ballet. Recognized for its technical brilliance and artistic excellence, the company continues to captivate audiences locally, nationally, and internationally through performances that celebrate both the legacy and vitality of classical ballet.
