Cosentino Launches 'Éclos' Mineral Surfaces with New Inlayered Technology

Cosentino Group is introducing a new chapter in its materials story with the launch of Éclos®, a mineral surfaces brand that visitors can now preview at the Cosentino Miami location. The debut signals the arrival of a new category in the surfaces world—what the company calls an “Inlayered Mineral Surface”—built on its newly developed Inlayr® technology.

Éclos® emerges from Cosentino’s ongoing effort to rethink how surfaces are made and used. The material blends high performance with a three-dimensional integrated design and a formulation free of crystalline silica. More than half of its composition comes from recycled materials, reflecting the company’s steady focus on reducing environmental impact and supporting safer fabrication practices.

Pilar Cosentino, the company’s CEO, describes Éclos® as part of a long line of innovations that have shaped the company’s evolution. From Silestone® in 1990 to Dekton® in 2013 and the more recent Hybriq® technology, each development has aimed to anticipate where the industry is headed. Éclos®, she notes, continues that trajectory, responding to emerging needs in both design and manufacturing.

The path to creating Éclos® was extensive. Over 50 researchers contributed to more than 28,000 hours of development and 1,500 hours of testing within Cosentino’s R&D and Product teams. Their work centered on perfecting the new Inlayr® technology, a layered system that uses advanced robotics and decoration techniques. The result is a surface with depth, pattern consistency, and integrated edge detail—qualities that bring a new level of realism and tactile experience.

The material’s composition represents another shift. The first Éclos® collection, rolling out globally in the coming months, contains zero crystalline silica. Every color incorporates at least 50% recycled materials, while some reach almost 90%. This formulation also improves flexibility, ductility, and impact resistance, making the slabs easier for industry professionals to handle and install. Éclos® surfaces can withstand temperatures up to 428°F, including direct contact with hot cookware, positioning them well for kitchens and other high-use spaces.

Éclos® arrives at a moment when the global countertop market is steadily expanding—expected to grow 3% annually through 2028, with mineral and porcelain surfaces accounting for a significant share of that increase. The U.S. remains the largest market, while rapid growth is anticipated across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and developing regions. Against this backdrop, Éclos® enters not as a replacement for existing materials but as another evolution, shaped by shifts in sustainability demands, design expectations, and fabrication realities.
