Coral Gables Launches Inaugural Day of Design Promenade
Cordero Consulting has announced the inaugural "Day of Design," a new district-wide promenade taking place on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, across select showrooms in Coral Gables. The afternoon-into-evening event connects interior designers, tastemakers, and design enthusiasts with the city's growing creative community through curated workshops, panel discussions, and receptions. Founding partner showrooms include Maison Mischief, the Coral Gables Museum, Scavolini, and Maison & Co., with media support provided by Coral Gables Magazine.

The event honors a design history that began in the 1920s when founder George Merrick envisioned Coral Gables as a planned "City Beautiful". Designed alongside architect Phineas Paist and landscape architect Denman Fink, the city established a Mediterranean Revival aesthetic defined by warm stucco, red clay roof tiles, and locally quarried limestone. The program builds upon this century-old architectural foundation, providing a platform for contemporary showrooms, craftspeople, and designers shaping the district today.
Programming at the Coral Gables Museum includes a featured panel discussion titled "Materials, Mastery, & Meaning: The Art of Enduring Design," moderated by Harriet Mays Powell, Editor-in-Chief of Palm Beach Cottages & Gardens. The discussion brings together regional makers and visionaries to explore how generational craftsmanship, material choices, and intentional design transform architectural structures into lasting heirlooms. City leaders and civic organizations, including Mayor Vince Lago and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, have noted the event's role in showcasing local creative talent and reinforcing the municipality's reputation as a South Florida design destination.
