The Container Project Examines Caribbean Diasporic Memory and Resilience at Barry University

The Container Project opens this week at Barry University, presenting a curatorial initiative focused on how Caribbean diasporic communities navigate memory, containment, and collective resilience. Organized by DVCAI and curated by Rosie Gordon-Wallace and Breeana Thorne, the exhibition uses the shipping container as its central metaphor—a structure tied to migration, movement, and the preservation of cultural histories.

The show brings together 19 artists whose work reflects themes of grief, care, cultural continuity, and the ways in which personal narratives become part of a broader diasporic archive. Installations, performances, and mixed-media works explore what individuals carry, both materially and emotionally, across borders and generations.
