Two of the greatest artists of our time reunite for Beethoven’s dark and stormy Piano Concerto No. 3. Then, the clouds part, and MTT leads his New World Symphony in Schumann’s First Symphony, a joyful invocation of spring that 18-year-old Schumann described as a “summons to awakening.”
