Community Foundation of Broward Celebrates Black Philanthropy at Donor Reception
The Community Foundation of Broward hosted its Black Philanthropy Donor Reception on March 18, 2026, to recognize charitable giving within the Black community. The event aligns with "Cherish Diversity," one of five core values guiding the organization's community grantmaking and leadership initiatives.
Since launching targeted outreach efforts in 2022 to engage more Black philanthropists, the organization has seen a 71 percent increase in charitable funds established by Black donors.
The reception featured light bites and remarks from several organization leaders, including Board Chair Jonathan Allen, Board Vice Chair Burnadette Norris-Weeks, Vice President of Philanthropic Services Kelly Marmol, and Director of Donor Services Jasmine Lewis-Fontus.
"We are honored to partner with a growing number of Black philanthropists and community leaders who are creating lasting impact in our community," said Jennifer O'Flannery Anderson, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Broward. Anderson noted that local donors increasingly utilize the foundation to establish enduring charitable legacies.
Founded in 1984, the nonprofit organization manages 590 personalized charitable funds representing $330 million in assets. Over its 40-year history, the foundation has distributed more than $215 million in grants to foster local collaborations and advance equity across Broward County.
