Clase Azul México, the acclaimed Mexican luxury house celebrated for its artisanal spirits and cultural storytelling, proudly introduces Clase Azul Tequila Día de Muertos Edición Limitada Recuerdos, the fifth and final chapter of its revered Nuestros Recuerdos (“Our Memories”) series.
Released annually to honor Mexico’s Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), this year’s edition closes a five-year creative journey that began in 2021 with Sabores (“Flavors”), followed by Colores (“Colors”) in 2022, Aromas (“Aromas”) in 2023, and Música (“Music”) in 2024. The culmination, Recuerdos (“Memories”), celebrates the heart of the tradition itself—the act of remembrance and the enduring connection between the living and those who have passed.

Honoring the Soul of Día de Muertos
Each year, Día de Muertos brings families together to welcome the spirits of loved ones through vibrant altars, or ofrendas, adorned with photographs, candles, marigolds, and favorite foods of the departed. Clase Azul channels that profound sense of reunion and reverence into its annual limited-edition tequila, crafting not just a drink but a vessel of memory and meaning.
A Liquid Tribute Crafted with Heart
Guided by Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco, Recuerdos is an añejo tequila composed of spirits aged between 12 and 38 months in first-use American whiskey casks. Part of the agave used was cooked in a traditional pit oven—an ancestral method that lends the tequila a rich, smoky complexity.
“For me, this tequila is a nostalgic return to my grandmother’s kitchen, to the wood-fired stove where she made tortillas,” Tinoco shares. “Creating this tequila was a way to relive those moments with the heart and transform them into a liquid tribute. More than a tequila, it is an act of love—one that turns nostalgia into presence.”
The result is an elegant and deeply evocative expression with aromas of cooked agave, smoked wood, orange peel, caramel, and clove. On the palate, it reveals orange marmalade and delicate spiced notes of cinnamon and clove, culminating in a long, warm finish of toasted wood and citrus.
Artistry in Every Detail
The ivory-hued decanter, designed by Mexican artist Erika Rivera, portrays a tender ofrenda surrounded by ethereal spirits—an artistic bridge between the tangible and the spiritual. Rivera, a Guadalajara native now based in Melbourne, drew inspiration from her own longing for home and the rich traditions that bind Mexicans across distances and generations.
The bottle’s 24-karat gold-plated ornament, shaped like a locket, opens to reveal a reflective obsidian cameo—symbolic of the mirrors placed on ofrendas to help visiting souls recognize themselves. Its surface is adorned with delicate milagritos in bas-relief, representing faith, gratitude, and devotion.
Each ornament was handcrafted by Milagros de Latón, a family-run brass workshop in Tesistán, Jalisco. Over 50 artisanal steps, from lost wax casting to hand polishing and gold plating, were required to bring every piece to life—a testament to Mexican craftsmanship and the enduring partnership behind the Nuestros Recuerdos series.
