Chewy Bark Park Grand Opening Celebration on The Underline

Chewy Bark Park officially opened Saturday, January 31, in Coral Gables with a lively community celebration that drew more than 500 pet parents and their dogs. The 17,000-square-foot park marks Chewy’s first-ever dog park and the newest addition to The Underline, Miami’s 10-mile linear park transforming space beneath the Metrorail into vibrant, everyday public spaces.

Located at 4500 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Chewy Bark Park is now open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The park features cooling turf, agility elements, and designated areas for small and large dogs, creating a new pet-friendly destination in the heart of the city.

The official leash-cutting ceremony included remarks from Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago, Eulois Cleckley, CEO of Friends of The Underline, and Lisa-Marie Curti, Head of Partnerships at Chewy. Speakers highlighted the park as both a neighborhood amenity and a milestone in The Underline’s continued growth.

“The opening of Chewy Bark Park is a proud moment for the city of Coral Gables and for pet parents across South Florida, where our Chewy story began and where our roots run deep,” said Orlena Yeung, Chief Brand Officer of Chewy, ahead of the grand opening. “This park was designed as a joyful gathering place for Miami pet parents—a space that reflects the unique energy of life with pets in this city, and a way for us to show up for the community that continues to inspire us.”

“As nearly 60% of The Underline visitors are dog owners, the Chewy Bark Park is a natural extension of our mission to connect people, pets, and neighborhoods through community and wellness,” shared Cleckley. “We’re excited to open this incredible destination with Chewy, a company deeply rooted in South Florida, to bring new life, activity, and pet-friendly spaces to the Miami community.”

The grand opening celebration featured playtime for pups, pup cups, photo opportunities, local bites from Vale, Playa Bowls, and Woof Gang Bakery, pet CPR demonstrations by the Coral Gables Fire Department, and opportunities to meet adoptable dogs from Miami-Dade Animal Services.

Chewy Bark Park also represents another milestone as Phase 3 of The Underline advances the project’s promise to prioritize safety, nature, and community. When complete, The Underline will span 10 miles, connecting neighborhoods through active transportation, culture, nature, art, and wellness.

As Chewy’s first-ever dog park, the space celebrates the company’s South Florida roots and its ongoing commitment to supporting pet parents in the community where it was founded and calls home. The park complements Chewy’s growing regional presence, including the launch of Chewy Vet Care locations across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. The Grand Opening Celebration marks the beginning of an ongoing community space, with more Chewy Bark Park events and special moments planned throughout 2026.
