The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, through its Art in Public Places program, has announced a major public art opportunity in partnership with North Bay Village. With a generous budget of $537,000, the county is seeking qualifications from professional visual artists across the United States for art commissions at the new North Bay Village Hall and Safety Complex.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, September 21, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EST. This high-profile commission represents a significant opportunity to contribute to the cultural and architectural identity of one of South Florida’s vibrant waterfront communities.

This initiative continues the longstanding tradition of the Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places program, one of the first public art programs in the country. Established in 1973, the program mandates that 1.5% of the capital costs of new county buildings be allocated to public art commissions, educational programming, and collection care. Overseen by the Art in Public Places Trust and its Professional Advisory Committee, the program has helped shape Miami-Dade’s visual and cultural landscape through hundreds of notable public artworks.
