Bremont is entering a new phase in watchmaking with the launch of its Supernova collection, tied to a space mission that will place one of its timepieces on the Moon. The British brand has partnered with aerospace company Astrolab to send a Supernova Chronograph aboard the FLIP rover, which is scheduled to land near the lunar south pole as part of an upcoming mission in 2026.

The watch will not simply travel to space. It is expected to remain on the lunar surface, marking what the company describes as the first time a watch becomes a permanent object on the Moon. The mission coincides with broader efforts to establish a standardized lunar time system, an initiative led by NASA and international partners.
The Supernova Chronograph has undergone extensive testing alongside the FLIP rover. The watch is subjected to the same “protoflight qualification” process used for space hardware, designed to simulate launch, flight, and lunar conditions. Testing protocols include thermal vacuum exposure, vibration testing, and electromagnetic compatibility checks, all aimed at ensuring performance in extreme environments.

The mission itself will launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. The FLIP rover, which weighs approximately 480 kilograms, will travel aboard Astrobotic’s Griffin lander. Its role is to test mobility systems and collect data on lunar surface conditions, including dust and terrain challenges.

Alongside the mission, Bremont is introducing the Supernova as a new product category. The collection expands beyond the brand’s existing Air, Land, and Sea lines into a Space-focused segment. The 41mm chronograph features a stainless steel case, ceramic bezel, and a dial design inspired by spacecraft structures such as solar arrays. The movement offers a 62-hour power reserve and is visible through an exhibition case back, as shown in the technical overview.

The collaboration reflects a broader shift in positioning for Bremont, moving further into engineering-driven design and exploration-focused storytelling. The Supernova line is expected to sit at the top of the brand’s collection structure, emphasizing durability, technical performance, and a connection to space exploration.
