Boxing for a Cause: Haymakers for Hope Returns to Miami

ree

Miami Beach will once again set the stage for one of the city’s most powerful nights of fundraising and resilience. On March 5, 2026, Haymakers for Hope, a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to raising funds and awareness for cancer research and care, returns to The Fillmore Miami Beach for its second annual charitable boxing event.

Unlike a typical fight night, this gala gives everyday individuals the chance to step into the ring for the very first time, proving that anyone can fight for a cause. Participants undergo four months of training with USA Boxing–registered coaches, preparing both physically and mentally before stepping into the ring. Each fighter is matched with an opponent of similar size, weight, age, and skill level, ensuring a fair contest built on courage and commitment.

The evening promises more than just competition. Between rounds, the audience will see “Ring Card Warriors.” These are cancer survivors who proudly carry ring cards and represent the heart of the mission. The atmosphere fuses the thrill of live boxing with the elegance of a Miami gala, creating a night that is both exhilarating and deeply meaningful. With tickets starting at $85, the event will offer the public an opportunity to experience a high-energy evening of entertainment while supporting lifesaving cancer research.

“Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Miami community, last year’s inaugural event raised more than $421,000 for cancer research and care,” says Haymakers for Hope co-founder Andrew Myerson. “This year, we’re excited to build on that momentum."

The University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will once again serve as the primary beneficiary among other organizations fighters will choose for proceeds to go to. Since its founding in 2010, Haymakers for Hope has raised more than $35 million through over 40 events nationwide, from New York and Boston to Denver and Washington, D.C.

Applications to fight are open through October 10, 2025, and no prior boxing experience is required.

“Preparing for a boxing match is no small task—it demands discipline, grit, and perseverance,” says Jordan McMillan, Marketing Manager for Haymakers for Hope. “But the reward is incredible. Fighters gain strength, confidence, and community, all while making an impact. Cancer doesn’t give you the choice to fight; it chooses you. That’s what makes this cause so meaningful.”
