Travel to Bimini has become easier for South Florida residents and visitors alike with the launch of the first-ever nonstop service from the United States to Bimini in The Bahamas. American Airlines now connects Miami International Airport with South Bimini Airport in less than an hour, with flights operating three times per week.

The new route marks a major step forward for the island, which sits just 50 miles off the coast of Florida and has long been known for its beaches, fishing culture, and laid-back atmosphere.

Often referred to as “The Gateway to The Bahamas,” Bimini has attracted travelers for decades, including Ernest Hemingway, who spent time on the island and drew inspiration from its waters. Today, visitors continue to come for deep sea fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, boating, and easy access to some of the clearest waters in the Caribbean.

The island also offers several well-known attractions, including the legendary Bimini Road, often associated with stories of Atlantis, the colorful Dolphin House museum in Alice Town, Radio Beach, Honeymoon Harbour, and the S.S. Sapona wreck site.

Accommodations range from boutique marina resorts to larger beachfront properties such as Resorts World Bimini. Other popular stays include Bimini Big Game Club Resort & Marina and Bimini Cove Resort & Marina.

The new air service comes as The Bahamas continues investing in infrastructure across the Out Islands, including a major redevelopment project at South Bimini Airport designed to support increased commercial traffic and improve the visitor experience.

With nonstop flights now available from Miami, Bimini is positioned to become an even more accessible option for travelers seeking a quick island escape without long travel times.
