The Betsy, the Michelin Key boutique hotel located in Miami Beach’s Art Deco District, is presenting “From Venice With Love,” a property-wide exhibition featuring the work of internationally acclaimed Miami-based Haitian artist Edouard Duval-Carrié. On display through November 15, 2026, the exhibition coincides with Duval-Carrié’s presentation at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, bringing his exploration of Caribbean history, migration and identity to Miami Beach.

Curated by Pulitzer Prize-winning Haitian-American visual historian Carl-Philippe Juste, “From Venice With Love” transforms The Betsy into an immersive showcase featuring paintings, sculptures and multimedia installations throughout the hotel. The exhibition explores themes of memory, spirituality, Vodou symbolism and the enduring cultural connections between Haiti, Africa and the Caribbean diaspora.

Widely recognized as one of South Florida’s most influential contemporary artists, Duval-Carrié has spent more than three decades creating works that examine identity, migration and history through mixed media, sculpture and magical realism. His Little Haiti studio has become an important center for artistic production and cultural exchange in Miami.

The exhibition opened August 1 with multiple installations throughout The Betsy’s galleries, including “Ode to the Everglades,” a monumental lobby display that will remain on view through Miami Art Week. Beginning August 9, the exhibition expands with 26 illuminated light boxes in BBar and a digital installation projected onto The Betsy Orb, the hotel’s iconic architectural landmark and public art platform.

The Betsy Orb installation reinterprets Duval-Carrié’s artwork through synchronized projection and music, creating a public art experience visible from the restored alleyway connecting Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue. Developed through the longtime creative partnership between Juste and Duval-Carrié, the installation uses technology as a tool to bring people together around the artwork and the conversations it inspires.

Presented through a collaboration between The Betsy Writer’s Room and the FIU Public Humanities Lab, with support from the Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation’s CreARTE program and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, the exhibition extends beyond the hotel through free public programming, cultural discussions and performances in Miami Beach and Little Haiti.

Through its galleries, exhibitions and cultural initiatives, The Betsy continues its commitment to making contemporary art accessible while creating opportunities for dialogue around Miami’s diverse communities. “From Venice With Love,” along with The Betsy Orb installation and accompanying programs, is free and open to the public.
