Cool Ways to Skate in Miami: Ice Rinks and Roller Skating Spots

Who ever thought ice skating would be possible in Miami, where temperatures can soar year-round? Yet you can lace up your skates and hit the ice, or trade the ice for wheels, at rinks across Miami and South Florida.
Skating is also a surprisingly good workout. It builds balance and coordination, strengthens the legs and core, and improves cardiovascular fitness without feeling like a traditional gym session. And you don’t have to be an experienced skater to enjoy it. Beginners, families, serious athletes and everyone in between can find a session that fits their level.
We’ve rounded up Miami’s ice and roller-skating spots, including traditional indoor rinks, a nightclub-style ice rink and even an outdoor roller rink near the beach. Here’s where to get moving on wheels or ice.

Schedules and prices can change for special events, private rentals and holidays. Check directly with each venue before visiting. The Barbara Medina Ice Rink in Miami Beach is also scheduled to close beginning in October 2026 for several months of renovations.
Ice Skating in Miami
Admission: $14
Skate Rental: $6
Schedule: Public sessions are offered daily, with daytime and evening times varying by day.
Miami Ice Arena in the Hammocks provides one of Miami-Dade’s most extensive public ice-skating schedules. The arena offers daytime skating during the week, evening sessions and longer weekend hours. Friday and Saturday late-night sessions feature a live DJ.
Beyond public skating, the facility supports figure skating, youth and adult hockey, off-ice training and Learn to Skate classes. Skating aids are available for $10, while helmet rentals cost $5. Participants must complete the arena’s waiver before entering the ice.
Resident Admission: $9, plus $8 skate rental
Nonresident Admission: $15 for youth and $19 for adults, plus $12 skate rental
Public Sessions: Monday from noon to 2 p.m.; Friday from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Status: Scheduled to close beginning in October 2026 for several months of upgrades.
The Barbara Medina Ice Rink is a 12,885-square-foot municipal facility in Miami Beach. Its programs include public skating, figure-skating sessions, private instruction and ice hockey for children and adults. Bleacher seating is available for spectators.
All programs must be paid for in advance through the City of Miami Beach registration system. The city has announced that the rink will close beginning in October 2026 while improvements funded partly through the 2018 General Obligation Bond are completed. An exact reopening date has not been announced.
Hours: Daily from 5 to 11 p.m.
Age Policy: Guests must be 21 or older after 9 p.m.

Located beneath The Miami Beach EDITION, Basement Skate places a 2,000-square-foot ice rink inside the hotel’s nightlife complex. Colored lighting, music and a changing light show make the experience closer to an evening attraction than a conventional community rink.
The compact rink is suited to casual skating and date nights rather than extended training sessions. Visitors can also find bowling and nightlife elsewhere within Basement, although access policies and operating schedules differ across the complex.

Public Sessions: Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Pines Ice Arena provides a Broward County alternative for Miami residents looking for regular public ice time. Its schedule includes weekday sessions, two weekend daytime periods and late-night skating on Fridays and Saturdays.
The arena also offers figure-skating instruction, hockey programs and introductory skating classes. Helmets can be rented for $5, and current Learn to Skate students receive public-session admission during their registered semester.
Roller Skating in Miami

Schedule: Public sessions are generally available Wednesday through Sunday, with classes and specialized skating nights earlier in the week.
Operating at a site associated with Miami roller skating since 1987, Miami Roller Rink is the city’s remaining standalone indoor roller rink. Its weekly programming includes family sessions, daytime skating, beginner classes, speed-skating instruction and nighttime sessions with music.
Saturday mornings begin with Learn to Skate and Roller Rookies sessions, including skate trainers for beginners. The venue also schedules Freestyle Mondays for skaters 16 and older, Thursday Rhythm Skate nights for adults and rotating themed events. The weekly schedule changes frequently, so visitors should confirm the session before purchasing admission.
Rink Type: Outdoor roller rink
Parking: $7 plus tax Monday through Thursday and $10 plus tax Friday through Sunday
Availability: Public skating hours and rink fees are not posted online. Call the Amusement Center at 305-361-5421 before visiting.
Crandon Park’s Family Amusement Center includes an old-fashioned outdoor roller rink near the park’s beach, carousel and picnic facilities. The open-air setting offers a different experience from Miami’s indoor skating venues, particularly for visitors planning a broader day at Crandon Park.
Miami-Dade County does not publish a separate operating schedule or admission price for the roller rink. Visitors should contact the Amusement Center to confirm that the rink is open, determine whether a reservation is required and ask about equipment policies.
Roller Skating Near Miami
Admission: $20, including skate rental
Adult Skate Admission: $15 on applicable nights

Availability: Skating is offered daily outside private events and special programming.
The Arena Roller Rink occupies 12,000 square feet inside Xtreme Action Park in Fort Lauderdale. Its maplewood floor is surrounded by programmable lighting, lasers and mirror balls, with a DJ booth positioned above the rink.
Public skating is sold in timed sessions that generally last four hours or longer. Adult Skate is offered on Wednesday and Sunday nights for guests 18 and older, while DJs are regularly scheduled on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Visitors should check the venue’s event calendar because private events can interrupt public access.
