B&B Italia marked its 60th anniversary during Milan Design Week with the presentation of “Before & Beyond,” a project that brought together a publication and an exhibition exploring the company’s history and creative direction.

Held from April 21 to 26 at Via Durini in Milan, "Before & Beyond" reflected on the evolution of B&B Italia since its founding in 1966, originally as C&B. The project examines how the brand developed into a global reference in Italian design, with a focus on its approach to communication and product development.

The “Before & Beyond” magazine, produced with Nova Express and curated by Gianluigi Ricuperati and Maurizio Cilli, drew from archival materials and new artistic contributions. It traced key moments in the company’s history, highlighting collaborations with designers and the role of visual storytelling in shaping its identity.

The publication was accompanied by an exhibition designed by Formafantasma, which expanded the research into a physical space. The installation presented historical materials, campaigns, and objects that illustrate the brand’s trajectory, alongside new work connected to its latest creative direction.

The project also referenced past campaigns and iconic products, including the UP series, while introducing new imagery developed for 2026. Through both the publication and exhibition, B&B Italia outlined its ongoing focus on design that combines research, collaboration, and long-term relevance.

More information on the exhibition and related projects can be found on the B&B Italia website.
