January Performances Bring Magic, Music, and Comedy to the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center

The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center opens the new year with a varied January schedule highlighting magic, comedy, classical music, and theatrical tributes. The venue will present a full month of programming designed for a wide range of audiences.

The season begins on January 3 with Magic & Mayhem – LIVE! Witness The Impossible! by Cirque Journey Entertainment. The show features interactive illusions led by Dizzy the Trickster, known for The Illusionists on Broadway, alongside magician Janna. Performances take place at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

On January 4, the chamber ensemble Schmaltz & Pepper brings a program blending klezmer, jazz, swing, and classical influences. The group includes principal clarinetist Eric Abramovitz, violinist and composer Drew Jurecka, Payadora Ensemble founder Rebekah Wolkstein, bassist Michael Herring, and pianist Jeremy Ledbetter.

Forever Yiddish: Songs and Stories from the Shtetl arrives on January 8. Yitzhak Fried and pianist Alan Mason explore traditional Yiddish repertoire through music and narrative. Proceeds support Leket Israel, a leading food-rescue organization.

Comedian Tom Cotter performs on January 9 as part of the Aventura Comedy Series. Cotter is known for appearances on America’s Got Talent, The Tonight Show, Comedy Central, The Howard Stern Show, and other national programs. The show begins at 8 p.m. and includes adult content.
On January 10, audiences can attend Dean Lives: The Dean Martin Story, starring Drew Anthony. The production traces Martin’s career from his early partnership with Jerry Lewis through his television and Las Vegas years. Performances are scheduled for 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The Miami International Piano Festival presents Two Piano Extravaganza on January 11 at 5 p.m., featuring Kemal Gekic and Kristina Miller in a program centered on Rachmaninoff and Lutosławski.
Australia’s Human Nature returns on January 22 at 8 p.m. with Back to the Sound of Motown, performing interpretations of classics such as “Dancing in the Street,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” and “Stop! In the Name of Love,” along with selections from the group’s own catalog.

The Callaway Sisters headline Broadway the Calla-way on January 23. Ann Hampton Callaway and Liz Callaway present songs from major Broadway productions including West Side Story, Cats, Wicked, and Carousel. VIP packages include a post-show meet-and-greet.
On January 24, Troy Anderson leads Louis Armstrong, The Tribute, performing well-known Armstrong hits including “Hello, Dolly!,” “What a Wonderful World,” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

Family audiences can attend Mutts Gone Nuts – Unleashed! on January 25 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., featuring trained rescue dogs, including performers with Guinness World Records and America’s Got Talent recognition. VIP tickets include a meet-and-greet with the canine cast.
In recognition of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, God and the Holocaust will be presented on January 27. The multimedia event features Avi Hoffman, Maestro Aaron Kula, and the Klezmer Company Jazz Orchestra, drawing on writings and songs from Holocaust-era artists.

The month concludes January 30 at 8 p.m. with Laugh Harder, Not Smarter by The Second City. The performance combines sketch comedy, satire, improvisation, and musical elements. The company’s alumni include Bill Murray, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, and other major comedic figures.
