Art Basel Announces Basel Exclusive and Program Highlights for 2026 Flagship Show
Art Basel’s 2026 edition in Basel will bring together 290 galleries from 43 countries and territories, with a renewed emphasis on museum-quality works and presentations by leading international galleries, collectors, artists, and institutions.
A new initiative, Basel Exclusive, will debut at the fair, reinforcing Art Basel’s role as a platform for discovery. Participating galleries will reserve a selection of major works to be shown publicly for the first time during the VIP opening.
The Unlimited sector will be curated for the first time by Ruba Katrib, Chief Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs at MoMA PS1, and will feature 59 projects from 66 international galleries, including large-scale installations, sculpture, performance, film, and immersive environments. Parcours, curated by Stefanie Hessler, Director of Swiss Institute, will present 22 projects in streets and historic sites along Clarastrasse and up to the Rhine.
Additional highlights include Kabinett, focused presentations within exhibitors’ main booths, and the Premiere, Feature, Statements, and Edition sectors. Two new site-specific commissions will be unveiled across Messeplatz and Münsterplatz through the inaugural Art Basel Awards, accompanied by a program of conversations, events, and institutional exhibitions across the city.
