Art Basel 2026 Basel Edition Highlights Unlimited, Parcours and Major Public Commissions
Art Basel’s 2026 edition in Basel will return in June with a focus on museum‑quality presentations across its sectors, including large‑scale installations, city‑wide projects and new public commissions.
Galleries in the main sector will show works from the early avant‑garde to contemporary practices, with presentations such as Marcel Duchamp’s Echiquier de poche at Galerie 1900–2000, paintings by Helen Frankenthaler at Yares Art and a focused display on André Masson at Applicat‑Prazan, as well as cross‑generational dialogues including Kara Walker at Sprüth Magers and Pierre Huyghe at Esther Schipper.
Unlimited, curated for the first time by Ruba Katrib of MoMA PS1, will be exclusive to the Basel fair and will present large‑scale works by artists including Isa Genzken, Ed Ruscha, Bruce Nauman and Theaster Gates, alongside a private before‑hours tour of the sector available through Airbnb.
The Parcours program, curated by Stefanie Hessler, will activate public and historic sites near the fair with 22 site‑specific projects by 31 galleries, while Art Basel Awards will support new public commissions by Nairy Baghramian on Messeplatz and Ibrahim Mahama on Münsterplatz that extend the fair into the city through large sculptural installations and an immersive environment built from industrial materials.
