On Jan. 22, American Heritage Schools was proud to host a dedication ceremony for the naming of its tennis court after tenured Tennis Coach Brian Schleifer at its Palm Beach Campus.

Schleifer, a 30-year veteran tennis coach with over 500 career match victories, has been shaping young athletes at American Heritage Schools since 1996. Born in New Jersey, Schleifer relocated to Florida in 1976, where he attended JC Mitchell Elementary School in Boca Raton, Boca Raton Middle School, and Spanish River High School. He served as team captain and MVP at Spanish River High School before earning tennis scholarships to Florida State University and Lynn University, playing collegiate tennis all four years.
During his tenure at American Heritage Schools’ Palm Beach campus, Schleifer has worn many hats, including athletic director, bus driver, lunch server, PE teacher, summer camp counselor, and coach, and director of the tennis program. He also coached girls’ softball, boys’ flag football, and boys’ and girls’ basketball.
Under his direction, the tennis program has won 43 boys and girls combined district titles, 22 state championships, and the boys’ national title in 2023. Schleifer has earned Coach of the Year honors more than 30 times from the Sun-Sentinel, The Palm Beach Post, and Boca Raton News. He won the Florida Dairy Farmers Sports Award for Tennis Coach of the Year 16 times and received the 2015 NFHS Sectional Coach of the Year recognition for all Southern States. He has been selected as a guest speaker on multiple ESPN podcasts and appointed to the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Mentor Coaches Committee for the State of Florida, cementing his legacy as one of the most decorated high school tennis coaches in the nation.
