Akris Launches Olga de Amaral–Inspired Collection for Fall 2026
Swiss fashion house Akris has introduced a fall 2026 collection created in collaboration with Colombian textile artist Olga de Amaral, expanding the label’s longstanding use of woven horsehair into a broader exploration of textile and form.
Akris first highlighted woven horsehair with its Ai bag in 2009, combining a trapezoidal silhouette with origami-like folds to show the material’s strength and subtle sheen.
Horsehair is also a recurring element in the work of Olga de Amaral, whose tapestries and sculptural textiles are known for their structural depth and surface texture.
For the new collection, Akris creative director Albert Kriemler has translated motifs from Amaral’s practice into ready-to-wear pieces and accessories, continuing a dialogue he has followed for many years with the now 94-year-old artist.
