This September, the Miami Design District (MDD) will unveil a new permanent, site-specific installation by internationally acclaimed Argentine artist Ad Minoliti. Titled Pink Spatial Microbiota, the work marks Minoliti’s first major project in Miami and will be housed in the Buick Building’s four-story stairwell, opening to the public on September 26 by appointment only.

The immersive installation transforms the stairwell into a surreal “digestive tube,” animated by colorful, geometric figures. Drawing inspiration from microbiota—the invisible organisms that live within all bodies—Minoliti reimagines the architecture itself as a non-binary organism, blending elements of Latin American avant-garde with humor and a distinctly queer perspective.
Known for merging abstraction with gender theory and science fiction, Minoliti brings their signature visual language to MDD in a bold, permanent intervention that challenges conventional narratives around space, identity, and the human body.

To celebrate the debut, MDD is partnering with Dale Zine for a special public program. On September 24, Minoliti will lead a zine-making workshop and unveil a new limited-edition print series in collaboration with the Miami-based publisher.

The installation will be open to the public by appointment starting September 26. For more information, visit miamidesigndistrict.net.
