Achille Salvagni Atelier presents “Memories of the Future” at Design Miami, marking the gallery’s debut at the fair under the Special Projects category. The installation places Italian design masterworks from the 1950s in direct dialogue with Salvagni’s own contemporary creations, forming a study on how heritage informs future-facing design.

At the center of the installation is a 1951 cabinet created by Gio Ponti and Piero Fornasetti, a work that represents a turning point between classical Italian aesthetics and the emerging language of modernism. Nearby, a 1950s birchwood cocktail table echoes both mechanical engineering and ancient sculptural forms, blending utility with symbolic resonance.

Salvagni’s pieces—such as the Alligator BB Sofa, Divo Lamp, Emerald Side Table, Milano Chair, Shield Cabinet, Spider Maximus Chandelier, and Yves Mirror—are exhibited on pedestals within a minimal environment defined by silver metallic walls and a deep red-orange carpet. The contrast between these two elements acts as a visual and conceptual bridge, linking futurist cues with emotional warmth and artisanal grounding.

The installation emphasizes craftsmanship rooted in Italian tradition, presenting each object as part of a continuum where past and present evolve through interpretation rather than nostalgia. Salvagni describes the presentation as an invitation to consider the dialogue between memory and modernity, framing design as both an inheritance and a projection.

In early 2026, Salvagni will release his second book with Assouline, authored by curator and historian Glenn Adamson. The publication examines the narratives, mythologies, and meticulous craftsmanship that shape Salvagni’s collectible works, many of which are produced in collaboration with master artisans in Rome.
