Designed by Nature: 1 Hotel West Hollywood

ree

Ideally located along the legendary Sunset Strip with panoramic views of LA, 1 Hotel West Hollywood defines sustainable luxury. The hotel masterfully balances luxury and nature-inspired design with the energy of Los Angeles, and you can feel it the moment you step off the bustling Sunset Boulevard. Designed as a “dry-lush” retreat, the hotel uses biophilic design to seamlessly connect guests to a conscious wellness escape. Instead of glitzy marble and gold, you are welcomed by the soothing textures of reclaimed wood, earthen plaster, and living greenery. The hotel is LEED Silver certified and 100% carbon neutral, with the very structure embracing sustainability, from the 75 tons of local fallen trees used in the design, to the recycled ocean plastic carpets in every room and a fleet of electric Audi e-tron house cars available for zero-emission local excursions–1 Hotel West Hollywood offers a stay that is connected, indulgent and deeply mindful.

ACCOMMODATIONS

As a pioneer in sustainable hospitality, 1 Hotels continues to set the standard for eco-conscious luxury. The hotel’s 285 guest rooms and suites, including two penthouses, embody the brand’s ethos of bringing the outside in. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill with interiors by AvroKO, spaces feature reclaimed wood, native greenery, organic cotton bedding, and marble bathrooms. Oversized windows flood rooms with natural light (framed by blackout curtains, of course) and showcase sweeping views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Hills. The brand’s sustainability mission is felt throughout, using glass and ceramic instead of paper and plastic, and a thoughtful note in the shower about preserving water.

DINING

The property has an on-site, 100% organic garden and beehive that Executive Chef Ginger Pierce uses daily. At 1 Kitchen, California’s bounty takes center stage with a farm-to-table experience in the lobby serving fresh, seasonal dishes in a sunlit, greenhouse-inspired setting. Dishes include a superfood salad, grilled skirt steak sandwich, cold pressed juices, smoothies and cocktails. Juniper Lounge and Garden offers a lush indoor-outdoor space for guests to enjoy a refined market-driven menu paired with handcrafted cocktails, plus programming with live music and events. Menu items include flatbreads and spreads, bites including prosciutto, apricots and stracciatella, a bone marrow burger, and sweet treats including tahini brownie and date truffles. Known as one of the hottest destinations in West Hollywood, Harriet’s Rooftop by The h.wood Group is a glamorous perch with sweeping city views. Preserving the values of an old-fashioned cocktail bar, the nightlife magnet serves handcrafted cocktails like the Kyoto Cooler and an Asian-inspired menu with favorites including the LA Sunset Roll and Galbi Style Korean Short Ribs finished off with a Matcha Pot de Creme. The Lobby Farmstand offers daily fresh fruit and snacks, while poolside dining and in-room service round out the culinary offerings.
